Tips to Consider When Going for Desert Camping
It’s true that desert could be a really harsh environment, especially when it comes to camping. Visitors who are used to other type of climates might be put-off initially by the unusual fauna and extreme temperatures, and might need a but time to get used to the environment and climate.
Here are some tips to remember when going on a desert camping trip:
Pay Extra Attention to The Tent
A lot of desert tent are specially built with canopy that is made with light-colored material, somewhat translucent material and the floor is made of darker-colored tarp. In deserts, such a common design could cause lots of problems, the light filters through roofing and heats up the tent’s floor, essentially converting your tent into an oven.
Try to pitch the tent in shaded area, or try covering it with opaque tarp. It this isn’t a possibility, then consider unzipping the tent’s ventilation, and also move the heat-sensitive items out of the tent.
Bring Extra Water
This is the most important thing to keep in mind – dehydration is the biggest danger when in deserts. You would consume far more amount of water in the desert that one would in usual, humid climate. So, always carry more water than what you may think you would need.
Prepare for The Cold Weather
Pertaining to the low humidity climate, deserts tend to get hot in the daytime and extremely chilly during night. Warm clothing along with extra blankets would really come in handy after dark.
