Advantages and Disadvantages of Inflatable Tents

Inflatable or air tent is still a fairly not-so-popular design and features a similar structure to that of the large family tents such as tunnel tents but doesn’t feature poles. In place of poles, the inflatable tents feature hollow panels which fill up with air so as to form a quite rigid structure.

Inflatable tents need a pump so as to inflate it. While these tents don’t have poles, inflatable tents still tend to be heavy and it makes them suitable for the larger campsites and car camping. These surely cannot be used as luxury wedding tent. Inflatable tents are a new addition in the market and is an innovative design, however, it may cost you a decent amount of money.

A key benefit of these inflatable tents is that once the tent has been laid out and the guy lines are pegged, the only thing that needs to be done is to inflate the frame with the pump.

Advantages
  • Easy to set up as it can be easily pitched and involves using a simple air pump.
  • No poles equate to less weight and less efforts required.
  • Offers a lot of headroom and space for living and storage.
  • Since there are no pole, there’s no metal snapping which reduces the risk of accidents taking place, making it safer.

Disadvantages
  • Even without the poles, it still tends to be heavy as compared to the other tent styles.
  • The larger sizes can be hard to find.
  • It is quite expensive pertaining to the new technology.
